===========================================

4/28/2008  Congratulations to AJ, Miranda, Shawn, Lucus, & Johnny for jobs well done at the Michael Valente' Memorial tournament! As a note I was approached several times by parents of other competitors and told that they were the most pleasant, polite and positive students they've ever seen at a tournament! I also know that AJ and his dad were approached with the same accolades as well........I feel like a broken record but, You guys always make us proud!
===========================================

4/22/2008  We are in the process of setting up a "Web visitor of the Month" program, Stay tuned for more info.

===========================================

This site will be moved and renamed as soon as the voting is done :-)

===========================================

3/8/2008  Maison Martial Arts is proud to present our DEMONSTRATION TEAM!
We are starting a special team to put on martial arts demonstrations. Watch here for a link to the new website dedicated to the team! For now here's a little bit about the team; It's open to any and all students that are willing to put in the time and effort to learn new things....that's right, it doesn't matter what age or rank you are! The demonstration team will be led by Sensei Maison and Sensei Fleming. Both leaders have experience with demonstration teams and this should be both fun and exciting. All students wishing to participate on the team have been asked to create a team logo for the uniforms and t-shirts, along with the team logo they've been asked for suggestions for a team name! More to come :-)

===============================================

1/29/2008  Well, it seems that I have been neglecting to keep this up to date so I'll try to catch up with everything that's been going on for the last couple of months (Not necessarily in order).
Visitors and the like: As you know we have recently had several visitors to the dojo, most of which are just students from other schools "shopping around". I know that when things like this happen some of you get confused about what's going on and I'm telling you, don't worry about it, just leave it to us and we'll make sure that it doesn't effect your training. Actually you should think of it as flattering that they would be seeking out our school :-)
Testing's: (AJ, Miranda, Lucus, Kayla, Shawn & William) were awesome to say the least. It always makes me proud to watch them test and perform at such a high level, So Way to go guys (and girls)!
RekSuits: The RekSuits part of our dojo is starting to go well and for those of you who didn't know it has expanded to include the very popular "Flip Your Lid Wear" so watch our RekSuits online store for the new products.
Adam's Tournament: The first annual D-Lux Charity Challenge was a huge success! Our dojo had a great presence at the tournament and everyone's performance was top notch. It was fun to watch for the first time Sensei John Fleming perform, and perform well! It was also good to see Sensei Maison compete in sparring after 4+ years of not doing so. I'd like to put all of the awards that were achieved by our students from this tournament here but frankly I don't remember all of them so I don't want to miss someone.
Virtual Tournament: Most of you are aware that our students competed in the first ever "Virtual" Tournament. We video taped the students doing their current kata and posted them for judging, We ended up with 3 first places and swept the women's divisions. Again, you students make us extremely proud.
And last but not least I'd like to welcome all of our new students! Some of you are new to martial arts and some of you are seasoned veteran's.....Welcome!

===============================================

11/5/2007  Well, we're way behind in news updates so I'll try to put them all together here. We had a really nice photo day at the dojo and all of the pictures came out awesome so, a big thanks to Steve from Downriver Photography for that! The last couple of tournaments went pretty well for our students as well. We've had a few pre-tests and a few tests since my last update so congrats to all of those who have successfully passed their rank exams! On another note Gary is teaching more and more, He's doing great at it too! Michael is currently assisting with the novice / intermediate class and he is doing great as well (It's great to see Michael at the dojo once again!) I would also like to thank Sensei John Fleming for all of his help too. For those of you who don't know Sensei Fleming is now teaching a high rank class on Wednesday evenings. His class is a whole different style of karate and it's always fun to learn new things! (Watch for his profile on the Instructors page)

===============================================

8/27/2007  The Renaissance Open Karate Tournament was last weekend as well as a TKD tournament Congratulations to AJ, Johnny & Lucus for a job well done! ===============================================

7/29/2007
  Maison Martial Arts may be expanding it's Dojo! We have been offered another 800 square feet (the adjoining unit) for a great monthly rate so we may be going to expand! Please pardon our dust as we take down the wall and double your training floor.

===============================================

7/28/2007  Master Jabari's tournament was last weekend and all of our competitors did well, Way to go folks. As always our students take victory and defeat like true martial artists. And We'd like to send a special thanks to Master Jabari for all of his kind words to our students!

===============================================

5/25/2007  For those of you that have asked about Michael, I talked to his mom via email and she said that they're doing well. She also said that they will stop by for a visit soon and she's trying to work out arrangements to get Michael to the dojo for the 6:00 class so that he can help out with the class. We all hope to see him back at the dojo real soon!

===============================================

5/25/2007  Testing day! Congratulations to Cindy, Johnny, Kayla and Noah on a job well done :-)

===============================================

5/21/2007  The Michael Valente' Memorial tournament was last weekend and we had 3 competitors entered. Johnny placed first in open hand and third in sparring, Kayla placed third in open hand and 3rd in sparring, and Shawn placed first in open hand. AWESOME JOB!!!! Also Johnny placed third in overall points!
We couldn't ask for better and we're all really proud of these competitors. This was the first competition for both Johnny and Kayla so that makes it even more special, Again Great Job Kids!

===============================================

4/20/2007  Testing day! Congratulations Shawn! Excellent job.

===============================================

4/16/2007  The Battle at the 45th parallel was last weekend and our competitors did great, and we all had a good time camping as well. A little snow and cold weather didn't stop the fun!

I would like to thank the blackbelts who were kind enough to take the time to be on our testing panel, and I would also like to thank all of the people who came out to support Gary and make his big day special! It was a big crowd and probably a bit uncomfortable for some people but it was definitely worth it :-)

===============================================

2/16/2007  Testing! Congratulations to all who tested!

===============================================

1/31/2007  Bojutsu testing day! Congratulations guys for a job well done!

===============================================

1/22/2007  Gary's Black Belt pre-test was this past Saturday. Gary did very well. It was a long afternoon for him and he was really tired when it was over but he came through it with good marks and a new appreciation for all of his hard work. Great job Gary! There's only a few weeks before the BIG day :-) stay tuned!

===============================================

1/9/2007  Well the schedule is set for Gary Foote's Black Belt testing! His testing will be on Saturday February 17th and will finish up on Sunday February 18th. The reasoning for the two day testing is so that his grandparents don't have to sit at the dojo for the long hours of the test on Saturday. It'll be an extremely hard test but Gary's up to the task I'm sure. Stay tuned for pictures from the testing days!

===============================================

1/1/2007  Happy New Year from all of us at Maison Martial Arts!

===============================================

12/26/2006  Well, everyone at the dojo has now seen the MMA logo embroidered on jackets. A special thanks to Johanna at the embroidery shop for her fast and most excellent work! and thanks again to Roy for his logistical support once again.

===============================================

12/22/2006  Testing. Congratulations to all who tested. The testing for the daytime adult class and the evening beginner/intermediate class both went well.

===============================================

11/29/2006  The results from this year's MSKC tournament circuit have Sensei Maison taking First Place in Traditional Weapons and Second Place in Traditional Open Hand. They have Gary Foote as taking Third place in Open Hand and Fourth place in Weapons. All in all I'd say that both competitors have done an outstanding job this year. Both of them have competed at all but one tournament this year and to hold their positions for a full circuit year is AWESOME! Great Job Guys!

===============================================

11/15/2006  The re-designed website is almost complete and should be launched later this month! The student area should be fully functional on new site as well.

===============================================

11/7/2006  For those of you who didn't know it Maison Martial Arts has a "MySpace" as well as this site. It can be found at http://www.myspace.com/Maison_Martial_Arts and the activity has steadily increased on both web sites.

===============================================

10/23/2006  The Grand Opening was a big success! and I would like to thank everyone who helped make it so. I'd also like to thank our students for their tireless efforts. Gary, Michael, Roy and Jimi did an awesome job! Thanks Guys. and a special thanks to Chef Roy and Chef Kellie for cooking all afternoon.

==============================================

10/12/2006  The Grand Opening is scheduled for Saturday the 21st. so please come out and join us for a while and check out the Dojo! Have a dog, chips and a pop and watch a demonstration or two :-) Meet and mingle with the current students and instructors of Maison Martial Arts.

==============================================

10/12/2006  I have some new pictures from Steve at Downriver Photography and I'll try to get them posted soon! Also I have a tentative schedule and it will be posted yet this week.

==============================================

10/11/2006  Well, we've gotten all of our approvals from the city and our business license so now the only thing to do is CELEBRATE!

==============================================

10/3/2006  It seems like a long time since we've had an update so here it is. We've had our occupancy inspections and have passed the Building, Electrical and Fire inspections but we failed on the plumbing and mechanical. Both issues are minor and will be rectified in short order. The uniforms and T-Shirts are at the silk screeners and we should have them back in about a week. We've ordered some more equipment like a stretching machine and a few sets of punching gloves and all of that will be in before weeks end.  We've installed a new sign on the building and are awaiting the signs for the street. All in all there are still things happening but it just seems to be moving at a snail's pace. We are planning our Grand opening for the weekend of the 21st so stay tuned.

===================================================================

8/28/2006  All of the utilities are now switched over, We have acquired more equipment and supplies and in general everything is going well. It won't be long now before the Grand Opening.

===================================================================

8/27/2006  Sensei Maison has passed his testing and earned his second degree black belt. His pre-test and test were very difficult to say the least but it was worth the effort. Sensei Maison would like to thank all of the people who turned out for his testing to show their support for him and the school.

===================================================================

8/24/2006 Michael Mitchell has tested and earned his Red Belt! His test was hard work but Michael was prepared and performed well. Way to go Michael!

===================================================================

8/14/2006  We have begun moving in and the utilities are in process, The changing rooms are up and the exercise equipment is in place. We have mirrors being delivered this week and all in all it's a busy time at the new dojo!

===================================================================

8/9/2006  Well, The lease has been signed and we will begin moving equipment in on the 10th! Our address is 25213A Gratiot and we should be able to open in the first week of September! Stay Tuned.

===================================================================

7/27/2006  We will be signing the lease on this building in mid August, and should be fully operational by September 1st. Stay tuned for information on the Grand Opening!
We have found many of the suppliers that we will be using for things like uniforms and shirts.

===================================================================

7/25/2006  We have gone on a walk through of a very nice building in Roseville and I believe that we will be moving in either in mid August or early September. The building will require very little work prior to opening the doors to the public. Our plan is to be open for business in September. The building is located in the 10 mile and Gratiot area and I'll post the address after we sign the lease.
===================================================================

7/18/2006 Having looked at six buildings and speaking with several realtors and owners I believe that we may have found a building to move into! The building if we move in will give us a 1400 square foot training floor plus ample locker rooms. The location is great and ease of access is excellent as well.
===================================================================

7/17/2006 We will be looking at three more buildings this week on Gratiot in Roseville.
===================================================================

7/17/2006 The Students Only area is well under way and will be functional in a week or so.
===================================================================

Gary has tested (and passed) his Brown Belt (3rd Gup) test! Way to go Gary! (Watch the pictures page for photos from Gary's test!)
===========================================================================

We're currently negotiating with a realtor on a building lease in Roseville on Gratiot.
===================================================================

We've looked at and walked through buildings for lease in Roseville, Warren, East Pointe, Mt. Clemens & St. Clair Shores.
